what
Surely it must be possible for municipalities not to always come across as so stuffy. We on the municipal council don’t actually wear suits—on the contrary, we’re actually on the younger side compared to others. So how can we modernize our image, strengthen our identity through all these events and cultural activities, and at the same time hold our heads high as the smallest village in the Upper Valais in terms of area? And please: nothing too traditional—that just doesn’t suit us. Can you help us with this?
how
The collaboration began with the development of a clear brand identity for the municipality of Lalden. After exploring various design approaches—from modular to classic—it quickly became clear: the solution was closer than expected. With the local dialect as a central element, the “LALU” brand was born—approachable, distinctive, and deeply rooted in the region. Complemented by the tagline “Z’chleinscht Dorf mim gregschtu Härz,” the identity was imbued with emotion and directly connected to the people and their stories. Building on this, we developed a holistic corporate design featuring a distinctive color palette, new graphic elements, and a modern website in collaboration with indual. The goal was to make the municipality’s communication consistent, flexible, and at the same time unmistakable.
wow
Today, Lalden demonstrates how a community can confidently embrace its identity. The brand isn’t just promoted—it’s embraced by the residents, whether they’re traveling around the world with “LALU” water bottles or attending newly organized events in the village. Even the mayor became a style icon when he showed up at the mayors’ conference wearing a branded hoodie.
